War Weary

The buzz phrase of the media on the 3rd anniversary of the Iraq invation is that Americans are “war weary”. What exactly do they mean? It’s an extremely lazy use of words, which the listener can interpret any way he pleases, as long as it’s negative. And that’s the point.

So don’t concern yourself with information, just report a state of mind and call it news. Would you like some cheese and crackers with your whine?

In the same breath, war critics decry the fact that the administration is asking the nation to fight a war without “sacrifices”. I guess they want to see some gas rationing, a black market in nylons, women working in munitions factories, and higher taxes.

But isn’t your whining about the weariness of war sufficient sacrifice?
